Hazel Grove MP William Wragg has demanded that the Government provides better funding for police beginning at the Autumn Budget next month. This comes after comments by Met Police Chief Cressida Dick this week that the pay rise which officers received this summer was like a punch on the nose.
Next week MPs will return to Westminster after the Summer Recess. Although often dubbed a holiday, the Parliamentary Summer break is actually a great opportunity to spend time supporting various organisations and initiatives in the local community.
I was delighted to host a reception at Parliament recently for the organisers and those who took part in the One Voice initiative. The project brought together members of the UK Armed Forces and local schools to celebrate diversity, tolerance and understanding between faith groups.
There has never been more public money spent on education, and the Government are to be commended for that. Indeed, the diversion of a further £1.2 billion is a good start, but I want more cash for schools in my constituency.
