Local residents have been informed that their train services will be reduced.
Northern Rail have advised that the Rose Hill Marple to Manchester Piccadilly service, which also runs through Woodley station, will be suspended on a ‘temporary basis’ from early September to mid December 2020.
Local residents wanting to get into Manchester will instead need to use Marple or Bredbury Station, where the service to Manchester will have an ‘uplift in provision’. This will make social-distancing harder, as more people will be packed onto a less-frequent service.
Whilst we appreciate that Coronavirus has had a wide spread impact on our normal day to day life, it is not acceptable for this service to be sacrificed and additional pressure put on a single route where it may be harder to maintain social distancing.
Working with William Wragg MP, your local Conservative Team have launched a petition against this temporary closure. Please sign our petition to keep the Rose Hill Service in operation.
