Making sure that the police have more resources to tackle crime and help victims is one of my top local priorities.
Today I welcomed an additional investment of up to £34.7 million for Greater Manchester Police. The money will come from a combination of Central Government and the Police Precept locally.
I want to see taxpayers' money invested in recruiting more frontline police officers, so that residents feel better protected. It will also allow the police to respond more fully when crime is reported.
As I have seen first-hand, Greater Manchester Police work hard under great pressures. I pay tribute to them and pledge to continue to fight for the resources they need to keep us safe.
