Why I am supporting Andrea Leadsom for Leader
Since the EU referendum result, many residents of the constituency, including members of the Conservative Party and those who are not, have contacted to me to ask who I favour to be the next Prime Minister.
I am happy to publicly declare that I have am endorsing and supporting Andrea Leadsom to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister, as she has the principles, economic competence and personal qualities to bring the fresh leadership our country needs.
Many will know that I campaigned to leave the EU. But whether you voted to Remain in or to Leave the EU, in light of the result it is time the country came together to respect the referendum result and the new Government needs to be in charge of delving a successful Brexit and getting the best possible exit deals for the UK. I believe Andrea is the candidate to deliver that due to her longstanding principled commitment to leaving the EU. She was at the forefront of the referendum campaign and has a positive vision of our country’s future for leaving the EU and regaining our place in the world.
Another reason I support Andrea is that she has the competency and ability to lead Britain’s continued economic recovery. Andrea has a track record in Government as a Treasury’s City Minister and is currently Energy Minister. She also have decades of experience in businesses both large and small, finance, and charity work. As our country now stands at an economic crossroads, that experience beyond the world of politics will be key to making the right choices to keep the economy on track and expand our trade with the whole world.
I also feel that Andrea has the personal traits that make a great leader. She has the steeliness and resilience needed to conduct the tough negations ahead. Yet this is twinned with a humanity, warmth and empathy with people that I believe will make her popular with people across the country at a time when we need unity most of all.
I’m sure members of the Conservative Party will come to their own views on who their preferred leader is, but as your representative I think you have a right to know my thoughts on the matter, so gladly place them here.
