William is pleased to have helped secure a 7.5% increase in the budget for our local police force. This is the largest single increase in resources since 2010.
The 7.5% increase means that an extra £48m will be allocated to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) – which will help to recruit an additional 347 police officers for the force this year.
William commented: “I am delighted by the announcement made today by the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, about Greater Manchester Police’s budget. Over the coming months, I will be working with the Government and GMP to ensure the Hazel Grove constituency gets allocated its fair share of the new police officers. It is my priority to ensure that the police have the resources to tackle issues locally, such as anti-social behaviour, burglaries and car crime.”
This new increase shows that policing and tackling crime is at the front of the Government’s agenda and that the police have the resources and capacity to tackle and stamp out crime.
