William Wragg, the MP for Hazel Grove, today presented a petition to the House of Commons on behalf of hundreds of local residents, calling for the Bredbury branch of Lloyds Bank in to remain open.
The Lloyds banks in Woodley Precinct, has been earmarked for closure as part of cost saving measures, but it is fear the move would making it harder for hundreds of customers to access their money and to get financial advice.
A petition has been signed by 580 local residents calling for the bank branch to be saved and Mr Wragg presented this to the House of Commons on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking in the Commons Chamber, Mr Wragg said: “High street banks play a vital role both as part of the makeup of our high streets, and as an important point for people to access their money and to get financial advice. Members of the community will struggle if the bank closes, and this is particularly important for elderly or vulnerable people who may choose not to use online banking service.”
The petitioners request that the House of Commons urges the Government to stop the closure of the Bredbury branch of Lloyds Bank
