Stockport Council has removed the play equipment from the park, and has left the site overgrown, meaning that play facilities for local children are limited.
William is helping the ‘Friends of Windlehurst Park’ bring the park back into use and secure new play equipment for the site.
William said, “Local parks and play areas are a vital part of our community, and give all children and families somewhere they can play and enjoy safely. The Council’s decision has left this part of High Lane without any of these facilities.”
When local campaigners approached the Council for funding, the local Liberal Democrat councillors refused to support the request for help.
However, William has pledged real action and is trying to make sure that the park will be eligible to benefit from funding made available as a result of planning applications.
