Having been in contact with Transport for Greater Manchester [TfGM], Derbyshire Council [DCC] and High Peak Buses regarding the decision to terminate the route, due to pressures they have issued the following response:
DCC and TfGM are now in collaboration, attempting the best result to maintain a service on the route. Following those discussions, DCC have agreed to issue out a tender to bus operators asking to operate; A) the existing Monday to Friday timetable; B) or a reduced Monday to Friday timetable.
As you may be aware, during weekdays the 394 service is operated on a commercial basis by High Peak Buses, with TfGM and DCC subsiding the Saturday service. Due to the cost involved it may the case that the best possible outcome would be for a reduced timetable operating Monday to Friday with the funding used from the then cancelled Saturday service to subsidise the mid-week.
DCC is having a meeting to solidify the potential contract next week. Please find enclosed a copy of the correspondence received from the relevant bodies. I shall endeavour to keep you updated on all progress and will continue to work hard for the best possible outcome.
