Romiley restaurant honoured by local MP at National Curry Awards

A Romiley restaurant has received recognition at the National Curry Awards.

Indigo Restaurant, based at The Precinct, won the award for Restaurant of the Year in the North West.

The Awards, aim to recognise outstanding restaurants, takeaways and chefs from across the country in an industry that is worth an estimated £5 billion to the UK economy.

Indigo was presented its award by local MP, William Wragg, who said afterwards:

“It is wonderful that this local business has been recognised on the national stage. I can testify from experience that it really is a first-rate establishment and this award is well-deserved.

I look forward to seeing Indigo and other local restaurants succeed at next year’s awards.”

William also said he wanted to support the industry more generally, which has been hit by a decline in skilled recruitment and training over recent years. He said:

“Having a national ceremony to recognise excellence in this industry is something I fully support. The Asian catering sector contributes a huge amount to our economy, yet it has seen issues with recruitment in recent years. If we want the industry to continue to thrive, acknowledging best practice seems a good place to start.”
