William Wragg MP launches Citizens Advice's #AskAngela Service
Last week, I had the pleasure of launching Stockport Citizens Advice Bureau's #AskforAngela campaign. This is a confidential service ran by dedicated, trained staff and volunteers who provide free and impartial advice to men and women who are experiencing issues around domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, forced marriage, honour-based violence, trafficking, female genital mutilation (FGM), stalking and harassment.
To access this service, local people will be able to simply "ASK for Angela" at the reception of Fred Perry House, Edward Street, Stockport, SK1 3XE.
In the last 6 years, there have been 8629 recorded offences of Domestic Abuse and 588 recorded or attempted rape offences reported to GMP.
#AskAngela could be the first port-of-call for people you know who may be a victim of emotional and physical abuse. I will continue to support the local CAB, and I look forward to meeting again in August with the new Chief Executive, Steve Hughes to discuss how we can work together to achieve positive outcomes for local people.
