The race to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine is well underway in Stockport. Local GPs, NHS Staff, the Armed Forces and a large army of volunteers are working hard to ensure that the roll-out of the vaccine is delivered safely and quickly. As a local Member of Parliament, I am proud at how our community has pulled together throughout this pandemic. The vaccination program is a gamechanger- we can start to recover from the social and economic hardship faced by all due the restrictions that COVID-19 has brought.
I am proud too of the United Kingdom’s role in delivering vaccines not just here at home, but around the world too. The UK has been one of the largest contributors to the GAVI program- a fund which will, over the next five years, vaccinate millions in developing countries around the globe. The fightback against the Coronavirus can only be achieved if we are working together.
The Government is on target to achieve its aim of offering a vaccination to all above 70, the clinically vulnerable and frontline health and social care workers by Feb 15th. I will ensure residents are kept up to date with the latest vaccination information via my website, Facebook and Twitter pages. All details below.
