Following William's strong local campaign, the Chancellor announced in the Budget that beer duty would be cut by 1p. A third cut in as many years!
Having worked with local pubs and residents in campaigning for this cut, William is delighted with the news. He said, "This is great news for the local pub trade. Together we have worked hard to get the backing of local residents who will hopefully now benefit from lower prices and more vibrant pubs. I have proven a strong voice for local publicans, and I hope this helps to make our great local pubs a key feature of our strong communities."
The first two cuts in beer duty created over 16,000 new jobs across the country.
Backing William, Prime Minister David Cameron said: “William is a powerful voice for the local pub industry. He regularly speaks up for this key asset within the community, and his campaigning efforts should be applauded. As part of our long term economic plan for Britain, our cuts to beer duty have made an important difference, helping local pubs to thrive.”
