Below is an important update from the Royal Mail.
"In November 2014 Royal Mail was proud to launch its partnership with the charity Missing People. This partnership has enabled 'high risk' alerts, which include Child Resuce Alerts, to be sent to Royal Mail's c.123,000 postmen and women across the UK through their handheld scanners. This extends exisiting efforts providing families with greater hope that their loved ones will be found safe and well.
Since our partnership began, we have sent out 61 'high risk' missing people alerts to Royal Mail postmen and women. Forty of those missing people have since been found safe and well. To compliment this initiative, we have a 'Freepost Missing People' postal address. This address is a simple way for missing people to send a message to their loved ones, without the possibility of being traced if that is their wish.
To mark the one-year anniversary of the partnership with Missing People, Royal Mail has contributed £50,000 to fund the national Child Rescue Alert system in 2016. These alerts are issued when a child is known to have been abducted or when their life is believed to be at immediate risk. This funding will ensure that the expert helpline team are trained and ready to issue an alert at any time. This will ensure the operation of a 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year system throughout 2016".
