On the 17th March 2016 we heard officially from High Peak Buses and from Derbyshire County Council that the 394 Bus would remain in service.
It had been proposed that the bus would be scrapped midweek and would only retain a weekend service.
After being made aware of the campaign by local residents, William immediately wrote letters to Stockport Council, Transport for Greater Manchester, Derbyshire Country Coucil and High Peak Buses asking that this vital route remained.
The 394 serves Stepping Hill Hospital helping young and elderly residents get to the hospital to make midweek appointments with their doctor.
Derbyshire County Council announced officially on the 17th March that the route would remain midweek however the timetable would be reduced due to demand and the weekend service would be removed.
Whilst this is still a disappointing result, maintaining a service for the majority of the week was crucial and ensuring that route is available to all during the majority of the week is still a positive result.
It is important to say that this campaign was fought by residents, Councillors and Council candidates of all Political Partys across the Stockport and High Peak area and individuals coming together to all work towards one goal made this result possible. So regardless of Party following, well done for a successful campaign.
